The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are searching for a man who attempted to rob an ATM in NW Albuquerque Thursday. Around 3:33 p.m., a male purposefully crashed a stolen white SUV into a CU Anytime ATM at 4101 Coors Blvd NW. No money was dispensed and the driver and another person fled the scene. The FBI and APD are asking the public for help in identifying the man. The male wore a black hoodie with a white Jordan logo, dark pants, black hat, and black Vans shoes. An uptick in shootings at the open space area behind Community Stadium has led to a warning being issued by the Albuquerque Police Department Individuals have been firing guns into the desert behind the stadium. Two of these shootings have resulted in homes being hit by bullets. APD warns the public that the only locations where a person can legally shoot a gun in city limits is at a gun range. APD is working with the property owners of the land to install fencing and signage which has already been put up, warning the public it is private property.

A deadly crash brought traffic to a standstill Tuesday afternoon. Officers were on the scene responding to a crash at 1040 Coors Bypass that killed one individual and sent a passenger to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Northbound Coors was shut down at the Cottonwood Mall.

Albuquerque Police Department Motors Unit responded to a fatal car crash early Friday morning near Unser and Paradise. Around 3 a.m., the Motors Unit was called out to the crash. During its investigation, it was determined that a blue BMW was driving south on Unser in the northbound lane while a silver Chevrolet Silverado was driving north on Unser. The truck changed lanes to avoid the BMW but the BMW then attempted to correct its lane which caused the Silverado to make another lane change back into his correct lane when the crash occurred. Albuquerque Police Department released two updates on homicide investigations Monday. APD homicide detectives determined a person, whose name has not yet been released, fatally stabbed Danay Morales-Hernandez and Omar Rodriguez-Hechemendia on Feb. 23 at 1006 Griegos Rd NW. Detectives also released the identity of Ryan Maren, who died as a result of blunt force trauma after being run over by a vehicle on Feb. 23. Detectives are still investigating the incident that took place at 4816 McMahon Blvd., NW and are working with the DA to determine whether charges will be filed.

Volcano Vista High School was placed on a shelter-in-place order Thursday after Albuquerque Police Department received a call reporting a shooting at the school. Police responded and investigated but found nothing to substantiate a shooting. Albuquerque Police Department homicide detectives have charged Giovanni Salazar with the murder of his father, Eddie Salazar, during a confrontation Tuesday in northwest Albuquerque. Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 6 a.m. from Giovanni Salazar, who reportedly had accidentally shot his father at his father’s home in the 4000 block of Hillspire Ave. NW. Giovanni Salazar told police he was fighting with his father and he accidentally shot him in the hip. Officers arrived at the home and found Eddie Salazar, 74, dead. Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near Unser and Paradise boulevards. Officers were called out around 5:45 a.m. Monday to the crash. The vehicle, a silver Nissan four-door, was driving northbound on Unser, approaching Paradise, when it struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was kneeling in the roadway, possibly picking up his dog. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and the dog, both of which ended up dying as a result of the crash.
