The Volcano Vista High School football team lost its first game of the season to La Cueva Friday night at Wilson Stadium. The Hawks fell to 3-1 after the 38-28 defeat. Quarterback Elliot Paskett-Bell ran for two touchdowns and threw for another in the loss.
Volleyball
Volcano Vista lost to Cleveland in straight sets Friday in the quarterfinals of the Albuquerque Metro Championships. The Hawks then beat Eldorado 3-0 and Albuquerque High on Saturday to win fifth place in the tournament.
Soccer
Volcano Vista’s boys team beat Eldorado 3-2 Thursday with two goals from Keegan Monnheimer and a goal from Asher Saban. The Hawks Monnheimer had two goals, and Jonathan Mares scored a hat trick Saturday to help VVHS beat Bosque School 6-0.
The girls team lost 2-1 to Eldorado Thursday with Emma Lucero scoring for Volcano Vista.
