Taylor Ranch Library is a hidden gem tucked away behind Santa Fe Dog Park and Taylor Ranch Library Park just west of Unsern Blvd.
It has plenty of amenities, services, programs and space. And it’s about to get bigger.
A room is under construction at the library that will add 1,000 square feet to the existing layout. The room is in honor of longtime Albuquerque City Councilor Ken Sanchez, who passed away in 2020. Sanchez served for 14 years on the city council and was a key advocate for the library.Â
Taylor Ranch Library Area Manager Lilly Byres-Richardson said the room will serve as a community room and should be completed by early summer.Â
While the community room is being built, Taylor Ranch Library is still open to the public seven days a week. The hours are 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
Taylor Ranch Library has free Wi-Fi and 28 public computers, most of which are lined up against a window on the west side of the building that offers a beautiful view. There’s printing and faxing services and a copy machine that can be used at a small cost.
Taylor Ranch, of course, has books and DVDs to check out. There’s a large area of the library dedicated to books for kids and several tables for the youngsters to sit and read.
The library also offers two recurring programs: Gizmo Garage and Family Story Time.
Gizmo Garage is 3-4 p.m. every Thursday and helps people learn about eBooks and eAudiobooks. There is one-on-one help for checking out, downloading and transferring digital media to your device.Â
Family Story Time is Sunday (1:15-2 p.m.) and Wednesday (11:15 a.m. to noon). It’s an all-ages story time featuring books, show-and-tell and early literacy activities.
Taylor Ranch Library is located at 5700 Bogart NW, 87120.
