Good news for drivers in the area: The re-opening of Rainbow Blvd. is getting closer.
Crews will test the water pipeline, which has closed Rainbow since June as it is being installed, this week and begin preparing Rainbow for paving. Assuming the test is successful, the northbound lanes of Rainbow from Ventana Ranch Road to Irving Blvd. will be paved from Sept. 19-23. Rainbow will then be re-striped and re-opened by mid-October. Also, the pedestrian trail along the Piedras Marcadas Arroyo will be completed and reopened by mid-October.
The Raw Water Transmission Pipeline Construction on the 16-inch pipeline will provide “raw,” or nonpotable water (not suitable for drinking), to support Intel’s multi-billion-dollar investment in upgrades and expansion at its Rio Rancho facility. Intel is an existing Water Authority customer, and the planned upgrade is expected to create new jobs and economic development opportunities for our area. Several segments are included in the overall project, which is expected to last through the end of 2022 or early 2023.
