The ruts and divots left behind from previous road work are finally being smoothed out along Wyoming Boulevard between Harper and Spain roads. Spokesperson for the Department of Municipal Development Scott Cilke said the paving work should be complete by the end of the week. “The work is a thin asphalt overlay of the previously heater Scarified Surface,” Cilke wrote in an email. “It seals the heater scarification and cleans up the appearance and the roughness of the asphalt.” On Tuesday afternoon, much of the paving work was already complete on the left lanes of both north- and southbound Wyoming.…

Gas prices in Albuquerque are down from last week by about five cents. According to AAA data, the average price of gasoline in the metro is $3.65 as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31. A week ago, the average price was $3.70. Prices in Albuquerque’s far Northeast Heights were as follows at select stations: • The 7-Eleven/ALON station at 7843 Tramway Blvd. was charging $3.65 a gallon for regular unleaded, $4.05 for mid-grade, $4.50 for premium, and $4.75 for a gallon of diesel. Dion’s sister restaurant Tula’s Kitchen is slated to open soon. The restaurant, located in the La Cueva Town Center next to Dion’s, is still under construction but may still be open before the summer ends as was reported in April. North Star Elementary School counselor Kathleen Hager said a lot of her co-workers supported what she was doing but did not want to end up in hot water. “They were scared,” Hager said. “They didn’t want their names associated with what I was doing.” Now Hager has received an award for what she did. Here’s a rundown of how some of La Cueva’s teams did over the weekend: Football La Cueva’s varsity football team couldn’t keep the momentum from their hyped-up season opener, falling 33-29 to Cleveland High on Friday. By 11 a.m. Saturday, there was barely any mud left on the 5K Muddy Dash course at Balloon Fiesta Park. Despite the complaints of no mud and excessive parking fees, participants could still be seen smiling and having fun while running through the obstacles at the park. “Where is the mud?” event-goers kept asking. “They should call it the Dirt Dash,” another was heard saying.
