The following incidents were reported by the Albuquerque Police Department for the week of Sept. 23-29 in the far northeast area between Elena Drive, Interstate 25, Paseo del Norte Boulevard and Tramway Boulevard. Cadets from the Albuquerque Heights Composite, or Spirit, Squadron showed off their knowledge of communications, flight, aerospace and drill during a Civil Air Patrol open house at the First Church of the Nazarene Thursday evening. Aiden Fried, a 16-year-old cadet, explained how science, technology, engineering and mathematics help him to better understand aerospace and rocketry, which are integral to the CAP program. Health officials are warning that an influenza COVID “twindemic” could overwhelm health systems if preventive measures are ignored. William Schaffner, an infectious disease professor at Vanderbilt University, is quoted by NPR as saying, “This could very well be the year in which we see a twindemic. That is, we have a surge in COVID and simultaneously an increase in influenza.
