Last week, New Mexico celebrated its first 4/20 since recreational use of marijuana was legalized on April 1.
Sales were over $2.3 million on April 20, but at Everest Cannabis Co., it was just another day at the dispensary.
Assistant manager Aiden Cano, who works at the location on Unser and McMahon, said it was busy but not as busy as he expected. A celebrated day in marijuana culture, 4/20 has been a busy day for the shop in the past as medical marijuana users visited the shop.
“It was about the same as before it became legal,” Cano said. “The medical crowd was wary of coming in because of the crowds and lines, so that’s a part of it.”
Cano declined to give any information on how much the shop sold last Wednesday. According to the Cannabis Control Division, New Mexico has sold more than $26 million worth of marijuana since April 1.
