Elementary school students wrapped their fall semester up on Tuesday with a performance of “The Polar Express.”
After weeks of rehearsals, kids at Sombra Del Monte Elementary School were finally able to show off their acting and singing skills to parents. The show began with students walking in front of parents as a makeshift Polar Express train before singing “Must Be Santa.”

Kids took on the roles of the train conductor, Santa Claus and reindeer. Teachers provided some assistance with getting the little actors in place and reminding them of their lines, while another provided narration. Throughout the performance, students joined together to sing “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and “Feliz Navidad.”

After the performance, a few parents were selected to go in front of the audience and compete in a holiday games. Two blindfolded parents battled it out to see who could scoop the most cotton balls into a plastic tray. Students cheered and gave directions as the two parents fumbled to find the cotton balls in front of them.
Next, parents competed in teams to see who could carry all the “eggs” from one side of the room to the other on spoons without dropping them. In the end it was a win for everyone, with parents, students and teachers smiling and laughing as they exited the cafeteria.
