Albuquerque Police Community Outreach announced the arrest of two individuals suspected of being involved in a string of burglaries throughout the city Friday morning.
Kellie Shugart was arrested for allegedly burglarizing dozens of businesses, including nail and hair salons and spas, APD’s Community Outreach statement reads. Dylan Zisman was also arrested in connection to the burglaries.
Shugart surrendered to police on Thursday after barricading herself inside an apartment near Montgomery Blvd. and Louisiana Blvd. She is suspected of burglarizing businesses that sell beauty supplies as well as targeting the CNM Montoya Campus, a framing business and a dispensary.
Shugart’s charges include 16 counts of commercial burglary, auto burglary, eight counts of larceny over $2,500, seven counts of larceny over $500 but nor more than $2,500, two counts of larceny not more than $250, nine counts of criminal damage not more than $1,000, 15 counts of conspiracy to commit burglary (commercial), conspiracy to commit burglary (auto) and three counts of tampering with evidence.
Additional charges may be filed against Shugart as detectives look into other burglaries she is suspected of being involved in. She will be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center and the District Attorney’s Office will seek preventative detention for new charges, according to the Community Outreach statement.
