The FBI and Albuquerque Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the man responsible for a credit union robbery on Monday, Aug. 22.
At 4:51 p.m., the suspect went to the US Eagle Federal Credit Union, 7201 Menaul Blvd. NE, and displayed a weapon to the teller in addition to demanding money. The teller complied with his request, and he then drove away in what appeared to be a white Kia Soul.
The suspect is a slender black male who is 5 feet, 8 inches to 6 feet tall. He was wearing a red baseball cap, a dark Indiana Pacers hooded sweatshirt over a white T-shirt, gray gloves, dark pants and dark shoes. The suspect was also carrying an orange bag, and witnesses say he had a deep voice.
This same man may be responsible for at least one other bank robbery on Aug. 8 at Western Commerce Bank, 1910 Wyoming Blvd NE, in Albuquerque.
The FBI is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Public affairs officer Frank Fisher said bank robbery carries a possible prison term of up to 20 years. The use of a gun, other dangerous weapon, toy gun or hoax bomb device during a bank robbery can be punishable by a prison term of up to 25 years.
