Dennis Chavez Elementary School fifth grader Desi Gonzales was named student of the week on Oct. 10 by Nusenda Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation.
Gonzales’ favorite subject is math, and he enjoys playing outside and watching football. “I like math because I am really good at it and it is easy,” Gonzales is quoted as saying on the APS website. He says his favorite football team is the Rams.
“I also like to golf and spend the night at my nana’s. And I also like to do art and play music on my iPad,” Gonzales said.
His teachers, Mrs. Parker and Ms. Montoya, had plenty of kind words to say about Gonzales.
“Desi has a heart of gold, and he is always caring for others. He is curious and wanting to learn a lot. He is so loving, and I love that about him. He tries really hard and will always try something, even if it is challenging! He is a pretty spectacular kid,” Mrs. Parker said.
“He is an amazing kiddo. He is so kind, generous, and honest. He works really hard, follows directions, and is very curious and asks great questions. He seems to love history and learning about historical figures,” Ms. Montoya said.
Madison Middle School eighth grader Brooke Gerrard was named student of the week on Oct. 3. To see a full list of students highlighted by the APS Foundation and Nusenda Credit Union, visit aps.edu/education-foundation/recognitions/student-of-the-week.
