On Monday, the city council deferred making a decision on the Integrated Development Ordinance annual updates until June 6. A safe outdoor space is a designated area for unhoused people to reside in. The Bears couldn’t hold off the Matadors in the state baseball semifinals, resulting in elimination from the tournament after a 3-1 loss. Sandia scored first at the top of the fifth, but La Cueva answered with a run of their own after Jason Kay stole home at the bottom of the sixth inning. The La Cueva varsity softball team was eliminated from the 2022 New Mexico Activities Association Softball Championships after losing to Centennial 10-7 on Friday. The lady Bears were moved to the consolation round after being defeated by Carlsbad 10-0 on Thursday. Both games were played at Cleveland High School softball complex in Rio Rancho. The city’s Development Review Board gave the green light for the construction of a Whataburger at the intersection of Alameda Boulevard and San Pedro Drive. The May 4 decision approves a 2,999-square-foot restaurant to be built on a 1.001-acre lot just west of Tin Can Alley. This week the average price for regular unleaded gasoline is $4.27, up from $4.04, according to AAA.
