Every month the Albuquerque Police Northeast Area Command will be introducing a new team in their monthly newsletter, and Team 3 is this month’s introduction. Team 3 are patrol units who answer an array of calls from 911 dispatchers, such as auto accidents and thefts, to robberies and homicides. There’s no shortage of roadwork going on in the Northeast Heights. Here’s a look at some of the projects that could impact traffic. ACADEMY from WYOMING to TRAMWAY The eastbound and westbound right lane and sidewalk are closed for a Truck Mounted Mobile operation on Academy between Wyoming and Tramway. Traffic will be maintained in the inside lane in both directions. Simultaneous closure of both sides of the road will not be permitted. The Cop on the Corner event gives residents the opportunity to attend a police field meeting and meet the officers assigned to their areas. Folks can provide information and speak up about their immediate concerns, as well as ask questions. APD Northeast Command says these briefings serve as a way to be able to exchange information, get insights about residential concerns and address improvement where needed. Summer tends to bring out all the bugs, and with the monsoon season just around the corner, it’s useful to know the Water Utility Authority offers manholes spraying for problem roach invasions. It is easy to set up a service request, which can prevent pests from eventually making their way into people’s sinks, toilets and tubs. When an infestation problem is found, the WUA will spray nearby manholes with boric acid, which is not toxic to humans or animals, according to their site. The City Council Redistricting Committee has one meeting before the determination of which new map will be used, and the result could change District 8 drastically. Currently, the District 8 map has a population of 57,600, but three proposed districting maps — A, D and E — would boost the district population by 2,000-4,000 people. Citizen maps one through five are also still being considered. Some proposals went over and under the 5% population deviation for some districts, including map D, which was corrected by moving one precinct from to District 8 to 4. Every 10 years, the city must…
Some residents and businesses can be wasteful with water, especially those new to the area. The rules are simple, which is to not water lawns or plants with spray irrigation from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from April 1 through Oct. 31. Restaurants are also asked not to serve water unless specifically requested in those months as well. The Water Utility Authority is asking people to keep an eye on excessive water waste and to speak up either by calling or going online to fill out an observation report. Jim Cosgrove, has been a child entertainer for more than 20 years and has performed more than 4,500 shows and eight albums. Eldorado High School is now offering AC/DC-inspired shirts and hoodies to benefit seniors next year, as well as supporting local businesses and former EHS alumni.
