Blake’s Lotaburger is celebrating its 70th anniversary on Saturday. To commemorate their the occasion, Blake’s will be offering 70-cent Burritos, fries, LOTABurgers and free iced coffee individually at each participating location. The fast-food franchise sometimes called simply Blake’s or Lotaburger, it is a chain that has been in New Mexico since 1952 with its first location at San Mateo and Southern. Many members of the homeless population keep animals not only for safety but also companionship during a tough time. Many of those people also feed their animals before themselves and can rarely afford pet food, necessities or health care. Feeding Pets of the Homeless is a national nonprofit program aimed toward homeless to be able to keep and provide for their animals. The organization not only helps provide the homeless with pets supplies but also health care and even finding temporary housing where their pets can come, too. Academy Hills Park Neighborhood Association is hosting a fourth of July bike parade. Children will be able decorate their bike to their liking and ride around the designated parade area of the park. Snacks and drinks will be provided, as well as goodie bags given to the first 50 participants.
