There will be hands-on demonstrations of the latest hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation. Local dealers will have off-road and recreational vehicles as well as boats and kayaks on display. SOAR day at Eldorado High School helps new students get a head-start by giving a general orientation, campus tours, and a meet-and-greet with counselors and teachers. The event is for the 2026 freshman class and any new students attending EHS who want to be prepared for their first day. Students will meet in the gym for general orientation. More than 30% of children in New Mexico face hunger and more than 90,000 families with kids receive food assistance, according to the Roadrunner Food Bank statistics. The mayor’s office announced today that the city plans to close the infamous Coronado Park next month. City Councilor Trudy Jones, who was in favor of the now-defunct open spaces proposal, which would have given legal outdoor spaces for the homeless population to reside with clean water, energy and hygiene facilities, was asked about her thoughts on the decision. Eldorado High School is teaming up with Presbyterian hospitals for its annual back-to-school supplies drive for Albuquerque Public Schools Title I homeless students. Donation needs are the regular school supplies any kid needs for the year, but also backpacks, hygiene products and new underwear and socks. People can drop off donations at the Eldorado administrative offices from July 26 to Aug. 4.
