Rio Rancho Police Department posted on its Facebook early Tuesday that a firetruck had been stolen from the Corrales Fire Department.

RRPD asked the community to keep a look out for the stolen truck and to call 911 if it is spotted.

About an hour later, the post was updated with “the vehicle has been located! Thank you all for your assistance. The vehicle has been located and will be back where it belongs shortly! We appreciate all the quick assistance from the public!”

Dennis L. Chavez was arrested Tuesday morning after a pursuit by police. He is charged with transferring a stolen motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing from a law enforcement officer, criminal damage to property and resisting, evading or obstructing a peace officer.

According to a release from State Police, Chavez drove over tire deflation devices placed by State Police and Laguna Police near mile post 114. He crashed into a wall in the parking lot of the Dancing Eagle Gas Station before he was arrested.
