Albuquerque Police Department officers found one person who had been shot to death while responding to a report for a single-vehicle crash around 5 a.m. Saturday.

Officers were dispatched near the area of Montano Rod NW and the Rio Grande River for reports of the crash and found one person who had been shot multiple times and had succumbed to the injuries.

APD homicide detectives have been activated and have taken over the investigation. The homicide is the 115th in Albuquerque in 2022, the highest one-year total ever for the city.
