Soggy Doggy Pet Wash offers convenient DIY service

Giving your pet a bath at home is not always easy or convenient. A cold outdoor soaking will leave a dog shivering and ready to pounce in the mud as soon as they’re set free. Indoor baths lead to wet, soggy messes and clogged drains. The Soggy Doggy Trolley often set up at North Domingo Baca Park offers a convenient solution – a mobile DIY pet wash at the park, where customers can take their dogs (and other pets) to shower in large ergonomic steel tubs, use their “made in the USA, cruelty free, vegan, nontoxic, and biodegradable” Earthbath natural shampoos and conditioners, and then dry off under “professional high velocity air dryers.”

Amanda Kreider, owner of Soggy Doggy, worked with canines at Sandia Search Dogs, an all-volunteer search-and-rescue organization, prior to opening the mobile pet wash. The locally woman-owned business began in June 2021 after Kreider’s husband purchased the trolley at an auction.

Soggy Doggy provides free services for search-and-rescue teams, animal rescue groups and other nonprofits. For everyone else, prices range from $10 for pets under 20 pounds, $15 for pets between 20-50 pounds, and $20 for pets over 50 pounds. The price is for a half hour use and includes clean towels, ear wipes, waterproof aprons and various grooming brushes.

Kreider said pets other than dogs can use the trolley if they follow the rules posted on the website.

“People can bring their pet pig as long as they have their vaccinations,” she said.

Customers must keep their pets on a 6-foot leash or shorter, have proof of vaccination records, and make sure the animals are flea-free before using Soggy Doggy’s services. The Soggy Doggy Trolley is in different locations throughout Albuquerque but can frequently be found at North Domingo Baca Park. She said North Domingo is a good location “because they have a really great dog park here, so there’s a lot of folks that come and bring their dogs there and they also have a really good field area. People like to come with their dogs and throw the balls and stuff.”

The DIY pet washing service is on a first-come, first-serve basis. For more information about products and services and to find out when the Soggy Doggy Trolley will be at a park near you, visit soggydoggypetwash.com.
