Albuquerque Police Department’s mounted patrol is scheduled to make an appearance at Rotary Park on Aug. 2 during Heritage East’s National Night Out celebration. National Night Out is celebrated on the first Tuesday in August across the United States to bring neighbors together and to take a stand against crime.
In the past, Heritage East and Quintessence competed to see which neighborhood could draw the largest crowd, and in more recent years joined to celebrate the event together. Police, firefighters, city councilors and other officials are expected to make an appearance at parks and in neighborhoods celebrating the event across Albuquerque.
In addition to the mounted patrol, Heritage East will have treats for the neighborhood. “Also, we’ll be educating the community on the tree grant that we’ve received through the City of Albuquerque and Brook Bassan,” said Daniel Martinez, president of the Heritage East Association of Residents.
According to the National Night Out website, “National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.”
