Madison Magic are the Albuquerque Public Schools Group 3 volleyball champions. The middle school’s A team finished its season with an 11-0 record after defeating Tony Hillerman Thunder on Saturday, Oct. 15.

They won two straight sets against the Thunder — 25-14, 25-10 — during the weekend tournament at Atrisco Heritage Academy High School. Madison beat Jefferson and James Monroe prior to the championship rematch against Tony Hillerman.

“The Group 3 division is considered the most competitive of the three groups in the city of Albuquerque,” head coach Michael Gallegos said. “The Madison girls saved their best match for last. Their hitting, passing, setting and serving all came together allowing them to beat Hillerman. The girls displayed teamwork and the drive to finish strong.”
