Volleyball

The Lady Bears are the new metro champs. They continued their undefeated streak during the Albuquerque Metro Championships over the weekend, toppling Valley 3-1 on Friday, and then shutting out both Rio Rancho and Cleveland 3-0 on Saturday. La Cueva’s varsity volleyball team is on a five-game winning streak. They play Manzano next in a nondistrict home game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Football

La Cueva defeated Volcano Vista 38-28 during Friday’s homecoming game at Wilson Stadium. The varsity football team is 3-1 so far this season, having lost to Cleveland Aug. 26. They play Los Lunas in a nondistrict away game Friday, Sept. 16, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. The JV team is 3-0 and takes on Valley at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 12, in a nondistrict home game.

Soccer

La Cueva’s boys varsity team beat Rio Grande 4-1 on Friday. The Bears have a 3-1-3 record so far this season. They take on Atrisco Heritage Academy at home at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15. The girls varsity team is on a two-game winning streak after beating St. Pius X 1-0 on Thursday. Their next game is against Cibola at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Cross-country

Cross-country teams competed in the Lobo XC Invitational Saturday, Sept. 10. Results have yet to be posted but should be available at nm.milesplit.com/results in the upcoming days. To see the Bears’ full cross-country schedule, visit bearscrosscountry.com/racing-schedule.
