The La Cueva High School football team is hosting its annual Lift-A-Thon at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 21, in the school’s weight room. Pledge sheets ae due the day of the event along with any flat donations. Each player is being asked to raise $100.

Last year, 139 LCHS football players participated in the Lift-A-Thon, lifting more than 83,600 pounds. The 2021 top lifters were Deven Dyer (1,250 pounds), Antonio Dominguez (1,240 pounds), Edgar Cuvas (1,510 pounds), Tino Reyes (1,375 pounds), Hunter Haemker (1,360 pounds), and Julian Trujillo (1,470 pounds). La Cueva football donated $1,200 to the Children’s Cancer Fund of New Mexico from the money they raised during last year’s Lift-A-Thon.

This year, 10% of proceeds from the Lift-A-Thon will go to the Austin Denton Foundation. The mission of the foundation is “to raise funds & awareness for organizations that serve, support, and create opportunities for individuals.”
