Students new to Desert Ridge Middle School are invited to Jumpstart Day Tuesday, Aug. 9. Sixth-graders will meet the teachers, learn the rules and culture at DRMS and get a tour of the school from 8 a.m. to noon. Seventh- and eighth-graders who are new to DRMS will get a tour of the campus and have new student orientation from 12:45-1:30 p.m. in the main gym.

Sixth-graders will receive Chromebooks between noon and 12:30 p.m. as they are dismissed. The new student orientation is for students only. Parents and guardians are invited to an optional Parent Survival Presentation from 10:30-11:45 a.m. in the school library. School counselors will discuss students’ social, emotional and academic futures during the presentation.

Lunches will not be served, and school buses unavailable during Jumpstart Day. Students will need to bring their class schedule, which is available on StudentVUE. They can take a screen shot, bring their phones or print the schedule out ahead of time to help with the orientation and tour.
