Georgia O’Keeffe Elementary fifth-grader Harika Reddy placed third in the APS Spelling Bee help on Thursday, March 3.
The top five spellers will move on to the New Mexico State Spelling Bee on March 11.
Additionally, fifth-grader Luke Brown from Dennis Chavez Elementary came in second place, and eighth-grader Garrick Tam from Cleveland Middle School came in first.
Winners in the NM State competition move on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which will be held in Washington, D.C., June 2, where “Reading Rainbow’s” LaVar Burton will be hosting the event.
