The Selfless Seniors award shines the spotlight on seniors who work hard behind the scenes to better the Albuquerque community. One student from each school is recognized, and Cian Monk is that senior for Eldorado High School.

Through the award, seniors chosen get a free senior portrait photo courtesy of Frank Frost Photography.

Seniors honored with the Selfless Senior award will be recognized at a ceremony April 29 at the Sandia Resort and Casino.

Monk said he is passionate about family, pets, vintage cars, graphic design and community.

Monk volunteered for six years with the New Mexico Department of Health’s Peer Helpers program, which gives encouragement and assistance through peer support.

Monk said, “I have been able to shape my belief that the highest good we can achieve is to care for one another.  The world can be hard, but each of us has the capacity to listen, to support, and to improve the human condition, one small kindness at a time.”
