Philip Bosin of Eldorado High School rode his No. 1 seed through the 5A state championship, defeating Tanin Ramnath of La Cueva for the title.

Bosin, a junior for the Eagles, defeated Ramnath 6-0, 2-0 with a retirement (or withdrawal) resulting in a forfeiture.

“It’s nice to live up to the seeding and to play some good matches,” Bosin said in a video posted on the New Mexico Activities Association website. “I was happy with my level of tennis throughout the week and it’s a good way to finish the season individually.”

No. 8 Eldorado boys were scheduled to take on No. 1 La Cueva Friday afternoon in the Class 5A team bracket. The winner advances to take on the winner of No. 5 Farmington vs. No. 4 Santa Fe Saturday at Jerry Cline Courts.
