The La Cueva varsity baseball team walked away with a 12-2 win and a 7-10 loss during Saturday’s district double-header against Eldorado. The Bears have a 7-3 record in 5A District two, placing them in second behind district champions Sandia.

La Cueva is seeded third in the state tournament, which begins Friday, May 6 when the Bears take on 14th-seeded Piedra Vista for their first playoff game in Farmington. The first game kicks off at 4 p.m., followed by two games set for 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7. The best of the three games advances to the quarterfinals, where the winner will take on either Cleveland or Centennial at Santa Ana Star Field at 4 p.m. May 12.

The semifinals will also be played at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. May 13, also at Santa Ana Star Field. The championship match will be played at Isotopes Park at 10:30 a.m. May 14.
