Every spring the Bernalillo County of the Assessor sends out a Notice of Value statement to property owners to notify them of the property valuation for property tax purposes. Some property owners are eligible for exemptions and a limitation of valuation program through the county and state. Exemptions are applied to the taxable value of the property for those who qualify and complete the application process. Parents and guardians with students attending an Albuquerque Public Schools middle school are being asked to fill out a survey about school performance, courses, graduation and career pathways. The district is having each middle school participate in a curriculum and instruction review. A team of educators and an outside contractor will conduct an in-depth review of all school systems, data, and overall performance. Sandia Cave provides the perfect getaway from the city and offers a history lesson at the same time. The cave is about a 40-minute drive from Albuquerque along NM 165, south of Placitas, in the Cibola National Forest.Once at the trailhead, visitors hike about a half mile to a metal spiral staircase below the cave entrance. About 38% of the homicides investigated in 2022 by the Albuquerque Police Department took place at an address ending in NE. The most recent victim was found shot to death Thursday, Dec. 29, at a home near the intersection of Constitution and Morris. That death brought the total number of 2022 homicides investigated by APD to 120. A new 221-unit apartment complex is slated to replace the Coronado Auto Recyclers building at 9320 San Pedro Drive NE by August 2024. Texas-based Tekin & Associates LLC is planning the development of the multifamily housing project. Albuquerque Business First reports that construction will begin in March 2023, with the project’s completion date scheduled for August 2024.
