Keep Albuquerque Beautiful has collaborated with Locker 505 to sponsor the 10th annual even,t held at Hinkle Family Fun Center at Indian School Road and Tramway Boulevard. Locker 505 partners with APS to make sure students have all they need to get through the school year, including shoes, socks, jackets, pants and shirts. The Bear Canyon Senior Center, 4645 Pitt St. NE, will be hosting a free COVID-19 booster clinic for all ages. No appointment is necessary. The clinic will run for 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 18. All brands of the booster are available, and insurance is not required, although participants are encouraged to bring their vaccine card for the booster update. Juan Tabo is down to one lane starting at Copper Avenue, just north of I-40, and ending at Lomas Boulevard. Copper Avenue is completely closed off north of Juan Tabo. It is advised to exit at Eubank or Tramway boulevards from I-40. Construction is estimated to end March 18, according to the cabq.gov traffic report. Furthermore, on Lowell Avenue, from Spain Road to Persimmon Avenue, a crack sealing project will continue periodically through to Aug. 31 and might affect walkability in the area. Brandon Kennedy, host of KUNM Studio Sessions, has taken on another musical venture. As many locals pined for dance venues during the pandemic, Kennedy’s solution was to have outdoor headphone dance parties at parks and open spaces throughout Albuquerque. The Spring Equinox event runs 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday at the double shelter outdoor amphitheater at Elena Gallegos Open Space, featuring guest local DJ “The Rev.” Mitton. St. Patrick’s Day is a tradition at the O’Niell’s Irish Pub, where there will be an open indoor and outdoor patio, as well as music and events throughout the day. The Juan Tabo location opens from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. to mark the holiday. There will be a limited food menu, and pickup/to-go/online orders will not be fulfilled during the holiday. Topgolf hosts the Spring Academy next week with three-hour sessions March 21-23. Children ages 6-12 will learn everything there is to know about golf from swinging to chipping and putting as well as the rules and etiquette to golf. Junior golfers will experience first-hand, in-depth knowledge from pro instructors on how to develop a perfect swing and will include some Topgolf gifts. Children ages 8-12 can now register for the Jewish Community Center Spring Break STEM Camp. Students will learn what it takes to build and eventually launch their own rockets by the end of the week. Camp is all week from Monday, March 21, to Friday, March 25, and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Before and after child care is available with reservation. The class of 2025 Freshman Student Government at Eldorado High School is hosting a fundraiser on Wednesday, March 16, at Quarter Celtic Taproom on Juan Tabo. The event runs from noon to 8 p.m., and patrons must either mention Eldorado when ordering or show the attached flyer from their phones. Ten percent of all sales mentioning Eldorado will go toward the fundraiser. Children in second through sixth grade can spend spring break on an activity-filled adventure exploring flora and fauna from all over the world at the ABQ Biopark. Camps are separated into second- and third-graders, and fourth through sixth grades. Each day starts at 8:15 a.m., and children are expected to bring a lunch, snack and drinking water.
