The U.S. Senate voted on and passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent starting in 2023. The Sunshine Protection Act passed Senate vote on Tuesday, March 15, and would eliminate the two seasonal time changes many states, including New Mexico, go through each year. The act must now pass House of Representatives a before going to the president for review. The Eldorado High School baseball teams were in full force catching up on practice during spring break. Junior varsity coaches John Dellalonga and Rod Herrerra said it has been a bit of a rough start to the season, but they’re confident the EHS teams will do well this season, stating, ‘We can only go up from here.” Below are photos of the EHS freshman team’s practice. Officials are seeking assistance in solving a burglary that took place at the Berean Baptist Church on Eubank Boulevard Sunday, March 20. The suspect broke in, damaged property and stole items, reports allege. Anthony Budetti of the Albuquerque Metro Crime Watch group said this same person is suspected in a string of break-ins at Northeast Heights office complexes and has allegedly stolen more than $200,000 worth of sports memorabilia. The church is asking anyone who may know this person to contact the Albuquerque Police Department Foothills command or call 242-COPS.

Anna Q. on Eisenhower neighborhood Nextdoor page said her license plate was swapped. She is not sure exactly when the swap happened, but she noticed the difference while on lunch break Tuesday, March 22. Another nearby resident, Sonia Puccini, who works out at the Brickz Fitness off Paseo Del Norte, said she captured a man, seen above, in the act of switching an existing plate and driving off. Another resident, John, said he and his neighbors had plates switched out in 2017, and that it continues to be a common occurrence. When driving through the neighborhood northwest of Wyoming and Montgomery boulevards, some may come across a house deemed eclectic by nearby residents. Artist and sculptor Shane Shane said he started the venture of decorating his front yard 13 years ago when he moved to Albuquerque from Belen for his kids to attend the Albuquerque Academy. “It took years to evolve into what it is now,” Shane said.
