What Neighbors think Ash, who did not want to give his last name said, “It is exciting because I like weed.” He said the only reason they’re doing it is because of the taxes, so it is…
No fooling. April 1 marks the first day Albuquerque — and New Mexico as a whole — allows adult recreational sales of cannabis. In anticipation of short supplies, medical patients were seen coming in droves to stock up their supplies Thursday before the big day. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham said the expected projections of cannabis sales in the state could generate between $125 to $300 million in sales in just the first year. Tax on recreational marijuana is 17-22%. Regular retail tax accounts for 5-9% with the additional 12% being part to the bill that passed last year. That number…

The area around El Oso Grande Park looks a lot different than it did a decade ago. The Oso Grande Neighborhood Association has played a large role in the improvements over the years. The organization, along with city officials, funding and donations, as well help from the Native Plant Society, was able to transform part of the El Oso Grande Park into a pollinator oasis. OGNA Vice President Bob Fass said a fire decimated most of the natural foliage at the park in 2010 and organizers came together to make it something more with the pollinator habitat in 2014. Fass…
It’s not just blooms and leaves adding color to the trees in Academy Hills Park. Strolling along the park’s paths, people can see some of the trees are adorned with hand-painted mini-birdhouses. Although the holes in these tiny homes may be too small for most native New Mexico birds, the structures can be used by pollinators or other small tree-dwelling insects. For a quick, affordable crafts project for the kids, which also benefits the birds and bees, these mini birdhouses can be found at any Dollar Tree store for $1.25. Paints, brushes, twine or stencils can be found in the…
