EHS spring band concerts Eldorado High School musicians will be performing at this year’s spring band concerts. On Tuesday, April 26, three jazz ensembles will be performing, and on Thursday, April 28, three concert bands will be playing in the last concerts for 2021-22 school year. Fat Axe has a couple of options when it comes to chucking objects about. The newly opened axe throwing and rage room opened in September in the Louisiana Shopping Center, and all target areas were full on a Tuesday afternoon. According to owner Justice Curry, the business has been doing well so far. Want to help care for the open spaces in your area? Come out to the Menaul Open Space cleanup project this weekend. There will be projects for all ages and abilities. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, with participants meeting at the Menaul Trailhead. Morning snacks provided, but folks should bring their own water. Stripes Biscuits and Burritos, formerly known as Troops, will be getting a new makeover over the next week and will reopen on Monday, April 18. Residents hoping to get their breakfast fix inquired about it via social media, as the location usually stays open only until 2 p.m., but folks will have to wait one more week while construction is completed. The Eisenhower Middle School Choir took third place in a statewide competition on Friday. Instructors rewarded the students to an afternoon of Little Caesars pizza, snacks and desserts in the park. Instructor Will Gonzales said the ensemble received a superior rating and deserved a pizza party. Gonzales explained some of the students in another group called the Five Star Show Choir will also be performing April 12 at the Sandia Presbyterian Church along with the La Cueva Choir. On Monday, the city council voted 6-3 to overturn the plastic bag ban in stores, which reversed the mayor’s veto to save the clean and green ordinance. The city councils’ reason for this was because of the added cost to businesses that use plastic or paper bags. What do neighbors think? One student from each school is recognized, and Cian Monk is that senior for Eldorado High School. The right lane of Montgomery is closed from Jamaica to Juan Tabo NE for utility work. The closure will last to April 15, but only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It could affect traffic around Eldorado High School. The project is for Comcast/Xfinity fiber cable upgrades to the area. Also, NMDOT is evaluating transportation improvements to the I-25 corridor between Comanche and Montgomery, including the freeway, frontage roads and interchanges.
