Lerner and Rowe Law Firm is hosting a drive-up school supply giveaway Friday. Gas prices have significantly dropped in the last week, and people are finally starting to see some relief at the pumps. Average cost per gallon dropped from $4.43 to $4.22, and $4.60 the week before. The Behavior Health Services Division will be launching a new mental health support line starting Saturday, July 16. This 24/7 service will help people with emotional, mental or substance use distress, and will connect all New Mexicans to local resources in times of need. According to the Animal Welfare department in an interview with New Mexico PBS, it is illegal to let your cats roam free in the city of Albuquerque. According to the Albuquerque Journal, the Heart Ordinance requests residents to keep their pets from roaming past their property; in fact, people can be fined if their animals are repeatedly found roaming outside someone’s property. The Audubon Society estimates that a single cat can kill up to 20 birds per year, which they say greatly affects urban environments for migratory birds that use the Rio Grande to travel.
