Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian near Unser and Paradise boulevards.

Officers were called out around 5:45 a.m. Monday to the crash. The vehicle, a silver Nissan four-door, was driving northbound on Unser, approaching Paradise, when it struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was kneeling in the roadway, possibly picking up his dog. The vehicle struck the pedestrian and the dog, both of which ended up dying as a result of the crash.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.  The investigation is still ongoing but at this time appears to be pedestrian error.
