Albuquerque high school students can now submit their essay to the 2022 New Mexico Ethics Watch Essay Contest.

The theme this year is, “Is it possible to have an ethical government without equity for all of its citizens?”

Students can submit their essay to essay@nmethicswatch.org now through 11:59 p.m. June 10.

The contest is open to students in grades 9-12 for the 2021-22 school year. All entries must be double-spaced, contain indented paragraphs, be in PDF format and received by the deadline.

Cash prizes will be awarded for:

  • First place ($500)
  • Second place ($250)
  • Third place ($150
  • Two honorable mentions ($50 each)

Each entry must be between 500-1,000 words and be relevant to the theme. Students are also asked to include a cover letter including their full name, age, name of parent or guardian if they’re under 18, mailing address, name of high school, phone number and email address.
