The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is hosting a special event through the end of April to make sure the shelter is equipped to take care of the hundreds of kittens and puppies expected to be orphaned this summer.

The shelter is holding a virtual kitten and puppy shower through April 30 in hopes of getting certain items donated to help the animals.

Items that can be donated are listed on Amazon. Donations can also be dropped off at any AWD shelter location.

Animal Welfare is always looking for foster parents to provide temporary homes for animals. Fostering is a rewarding experience, knowing you’re helping to save precious lives. If you are interested in fostering, apply here. For information email at awdfoster@cabq.gov .
