Here is a recap of last week’s games for Eldorado High School teams, according to the Albuquerque Public Schools athletics schedule and Maxpreps.

    Football

The Golden Eagles varsity football team finally had its first win on Friday during an away game against the Clovis Wildcats with a final score of 28-27. The team’s record stands at 1-4.

The JV team won its game Monday against the Albuquerque Bulldogs with a final score was 53-20.

The freshman team lost to the Albuquerque Bulldogs on Tuesday with a final score of 15-12.

    Volleyball

The varsity volleyball team (6-2) had three wins last week, first against the Albuquerque Bulldogs on Tuesday, beating them 3 sets to 1. On Thursday, the team cruised to another 3-1 win against the Hope Christian Huskies, and then swept the Valley Vikings 3-0 on Saturday. Here are some highlight clips from the HC game.

The JV team (2-3) lost to the Bulldogs 2-1 on Tuesday and 2-0 to the Huskies on Thursday 2-0. The team came back on Saturday against the Valley Vikings with a final score of 2-1.

The freshman team (2-2) won against the Bulldogs 2-0 on Tuesday, but lost to the HC Huskies on Thursday, 2-1.

    Soccer

The boys varsity soccer team (2-4-3) had two losses last week against the Sandia Prep Sundevils on Tuesday, losing 1-0, and with the Valley Vikings on Saturday, also with a score of 1-0.

The boys JV team played the Sundevils on Tuesday and the Vikings on Thursday, but no scores for either game have been reported to Maxpreps. Only one of four game scores has been reported.

The girls varsity team (7-1-1) won 1-0 against the Sundevils on Tuesday, but had its first loss of the season against the HC Huskies, falling 2-0.

The girls JV team (0-1-1) drew with the Volcano Vista Hawks on Saturday, 1-1, and its game with Sandia Prep was rescheduled for Sept. 24.

In state sports news, condolences go out to the family and friends of Organ Mountain High School football senior linebacker Abe Romero, who passed away Saturday evening. Romero was in a medically induced coma brought on by injuries sustained during a game with the Deming Wildcats on Aug. 28, where in the second quarter he was hit, then later unexpectedly collapsed. The mayor of Las Cruces deemed Sept. 22 Abe Romero Day, as that was the number he wore.
