For those that are willing to go out at night foraging for food, there are some options when it comes to late-night eats. Since the pandemic, grocery stores have still not gone back to regular hours, and many convenience stores have also started to close early now because of crime. It can be a difficult task for night shift workers to find a meal after work, so here is a short list of spots open after 10 p.m.

Uptown Sports Bar,  6601 Uptown Blvd NE. This sports bar has a late-night menu of wings, chicken tenders, nachos and wedge salad to name a few items. Their kitchen is open until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and midnight Monday through Thursday.

Cesar’s, 5300 Lomas Blvd NE. Open 24 hours, Cesar’s has both greek and Mexican food, and menu favorites include the carne asada burrito, gyros and the #36 rolled tacos.

Whataburger, 5300 Lomas Blvd NE/9500 Candelaria Rd NE. Open 24 hours, Whataburger can be kind of a hassle to wait in the drive-thru late at night. It has the usual burgers and patty melts, but after 11 p.m., Whataburger starts offering its breakfast menu till 11 a.m.

Stone Face Tavern, 8201 San Pedro Dr NE. Open until midnight Wednesday through Saturday. Stone Face does have a few salad and chicken sandwich options on top of the usual bar fare, but it also offers steak and steak fingers on the menu.

Frontier, 2400 Central Ave SE. Open until midnight, Frontier had always been a late-night staple, but since crime in the area made the restaurant change its hours, that doesn’t mean folks still can’t go get a breakfast burrito or cinnamon bun until midnight.

Food Truck El Mero Mero, 3000 Carlisle Blvd. NE. Hours are 6-11 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. On the northeast corner of Carlisle and Candelaria, EL Mero Mero Mexican food truck can be found in the Tint Masters parking lot. The menu includes tortas, tacos and taquitos, just to name a few items, and the menu does change depending on demand.

Taco Cabana, 8330 Montgomery Blvd. NE. Open until midnight, Taco Cabana has locations all over Albuquerque, and like many businesses, was open 24 hours prior to the pandemic. Folks can still get all that the Cabana has to offer until midnight. According to the reviews, the street tacos and flautas and quesadillas are worth a go.

Main Event 4040 Pan American Fwy NE. Open until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, Main Event not only has a late-night menu of burgers and shakes, the venue also offers a ton of fun with gravity ropes, laser tag, virtual reality, bowling, mini golf and other games.

If you know of any other late-night eats or watering holes in Albuquerque, email rthompson@neighborhoodjournal.com and we’ll add it to the list.
