A water main break caused a headache for some motorists in northwest Albuquerque early Thursday morning.

Northbound Coors was closed  just north of Ellison Road because of several sinkholes caused by flooding from a water main break around 5 a.m.

Albuquerque Police Department was on the scene assisting the Water Authority with the emergency. Repairs are underway but are expected to take a couple of days. NMDOT says traffic is being diverted down Ellison to Alameda and back to NM-528. Drivers are asked to avoid the area
