Students running for office at Volcano Vista High School should begin organizing their campaign.

Student leadership elections are set for Aug. 15-16, with campaigning beginning Aug. 3. In order to campaign, candidates must submit a letter of intent with two references from former teachers to George Woods by noon July 29.

Offices students will vote for include class president, vice president and secretary at each grade level. Any student with at least a 3.0 grade point average in the last grading period are eligible to run. The elected class president must enroll in student leadership, a zero-hour course.

Additionally, students can run for student body officers, including student body historian, secretary and second vice president. Any student with a 3.0 or higher grade point average in the last grading period are eligible to run; winners must enroll in student leadership.

For student body first vice president and president, only seniors with a minimum 3.0 grade point average in the previous grading period are eligible to run. Candidates for first vice president must have enrolled in student leadership for at least one year prior to running, and presidential candidates must have been enrolled in the course their junior year.

Letters of intent to run can be emailed to george.woods@aps.edu.
