Volcano Vista just keeps making history.

Last weekend, the boys and girls basketball teams became the first teams from the same school to each have an undefeated, championship season.

Wednesday, senior guard J’Kwon Hill became the first Volcano Vista player to be named Gatorade New Mexico Boys Basketball Player of the Year.

J’Kwon Hill hits a free throw with 4.1 seconds left to force overtime in the Class 5A title game Saturday.

He coolly hit two free throws with 4.1 seconds left to force overtime in the Class 5A championship game Saturday in the Pit.

The 6-foot-2 guard, averaged 18.1 points, six rebounds and five assists per game, helping the Hawks to a 29-0 season.

Hill also volunteers locally at food banks and visits patients at Carrie Tingley children’s hospital.
