Volcano Vista High School was placed on a shelter-in-place order Thursday after Albuquerque Police Department received a call reporting a shooting at the school.

Police responded and investigated but found nothing to substantiate a shooting. Tierra Antigua Elementary School and Tony Hillerman Middle School were placed on lockdown also.

“APD got a single call of a shooting at the school,” Gilbert Gallegos, an Albuquerque police spokesman, said. “Officers have made contact with the principal and staff and they did not report any shootings. APD’s Real Time Crime Center also reports they have not seen any video surveillance showing a shooter or any victims.”

Rio Rancho High School and Bernalillo High School also received calls reporting a shooting Thursday.

“Police in several states are investigating reports of school safety threats today,” Albuquerque Public Schools said on Twitter.
