Volcano Vista High School’s boys golf team shot a two-round score of 679 to finish fifth at the State Golf Championship Tuesday at Twin Warriors Golf Club. The girls team placed seventh with a score of 790.

The top-performing boy golfer for the Hawks was Hyrax Yorgason, who shot a 160. Alfie Mellor was 29th with a 172 and Ryan Aragon was 30th, a shot behind his teammate. Elijah Apodaca finished 38th (179), and Nicholas Kaiser was 41st (190).

Maddison Long had the best tournament for the Volcano Vista girls, shooting a 193 and finishing 24th.

Olivia Raymond was 27th at 197, Kayla Hines was 28th with a 199, Lucy Garza finished in 32nd at 201 and Ashlee Simkons was 37th at 216.
