The Albuquerque Police Department’s bomb squad was sent to North Domingo Baca Park around 2 p.m. after a suspicious device was reported in the area.

“There was a suspicious device, is what it was,” an officer from APD’s bomb squad said while standing near the entrance to the multigenerational center parking lot. “We were able to look at it and determine what it was. It wasn’t a smoking package or anything like that.”

A representative from the city’s Senior Affairs Department said everyone inside the multigenerational center was asked to evacuate the premises as a safety precaution but that the device was not found inside the building. At around 3 p.m., people were seen coming into the building where staff members were talking amongst themselves. Outside, officers were not seen on the property and normal activity at the park resumed.
