Registration is now open for summer chess camps taking place at multiple locations in Albuquerque, including two in the Northeast Heights.

Learners Chess will host camps at  S.Y. Jackson Elementary, 4720 Cairo Drive NE, the weeks of July 18-22 and July 25-29. Morning sessions run 8:30 a.m to noon with afternoon sessions from 1-4:30. Campers can also attend for a full day, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Early drop-off and late pickup options are available for an extra fee.

The cost for one week of half days is $135 and $250 for full days if registered by May 23. The price goes up after that, with the cost being $155 for a week of half days and $275 for full days if registering within three days of camp starting. There is a $25 sibling discount and a multi-week discount of $15 off for each additional week players are signed up for. A need-based scholarship is also available.

Chess campers will earn prizes, including a colored chess set. For more information and a full list of camp dates and locations, visit learnerschess.org.
