Registration for the eighth annual Sugar Skull Fun Run hosted by Bernalillo County is now open.

People can walk, jog, run or strut along the Bosque near the National Hispanic Cultural Center Oct. 23. This year will boast a timed 5K to start with the leisurely fun-run afterward. The a one-mile strut and stroll will follow. Dia De Los Muertos attire is encouraged but not required. The event will also feature products from local vendors and food trucks until noon. Proceeds from the run will go to the Bernalillo County Quality of Life fund that aids in all aspects of community needs, ranging from animal care to housing and child welfare initiatives.

Registration fee includes a Sugar Skull Fun Run T-shirt. This year’s design is by local artist Spenser Onorato. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrants through Sept. 1.

Children 7 years and younger can participate for free with no registration required. T-shirts can be purchased separately. Pets are also welcome for the one-mile strut and stroll only.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet pickup will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Saturday, Oct. 22, at Sports Systems, 6915 Montgomery Blvd. NE. Packets not picked up on these days will be available on race day at the event information desk.
