Slime has been a craze for kids since around 2016 and has not stopped. Videos of people making their own homemade slime has become a viral phenomenon on platforms like Instagram, TikTok and YouTube with hundreds of accounts devoted to just making slime. Many people have made a profitable business making slime at home as well.

Google says the search for slime is still trending and not going away anytime soon, but experts say, just like a fidget spinner, it’s something to do with keeping one’s hands active and has an added benefit of auditory satisfaction much like popping bubble wrap, which can be a soothing experience.

Juan Tabo Library is now giving kids their chance to learn exactly how to make slime from 2-3 p.m. June 14. Children will learn both original and fluffy varieties, and it is suggested to wear old clothes as it can get messy. The event is for ages 9-12 and limited to 15 participants.

Registration is required and can be found here.
