From Friday, Nov. 11 to Friday, Nov. 18 Albuquerque Police reported 70 incidents to Crime Mapping in the far northeast reporting area between Elena Drive, Interstate 25, Paseo del Norte Boulevard, and Tramway Boulevard.

According to a pie chart on the Crime Mapping website, there were 50 reports of disturbing peace, one burglary, four assault, one vehicle break-in/theft, six vandalism, four larceny, two motor vehicle theft and two fraud incidents reported by APD for the week.

Two of the assault incidents are noted as shots fired calls. One of the shots fired calls was reported at 8:39 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 on the 6900 block of Schist Avenue. The other shots fired call was at 6:06 a.m. Thursday, Nov 17 on the 6300 block of Carmel Drive.

The forgery/fraud incident was reported at 11:48 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14 on the 8200 block of Wyoming Boulevard and a motor vehicle theft was reported at 3:13 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 on the 5600 block of Eagle Rock Avenue.

Parts of the far northeast coverage area are serviced by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office. Crime data for incidents responded to by BCSO were not immediately available for the week and the CityProtect crime map BCSO has a link to on its website does not list any incidents in the coverage area.

Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office offers citizen academy

Anyone interested in learning more about how BCSO operates, its training and officer selection procedures are invited to sigh up for the BCSO Citizen Academy.

Classes are scheduled every Tuesday evening from 6-9 p.m. at the BCSO Regional Training Academy in Tijeras. The next class begins Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023 and the application deadline is Feb. 1, 2023.

To qualify for the class applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Cannot have any felony convictions.
  • Cannot have any misdemeanor or DWI arrests within the past three years.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Complete a Citizen Academy applicant and signed waiver of liability form.
  • Be available to attend the one night a week, three-hour block of training for the 16 week program.
