The Labor Day holiday means a long weekend for many people, and workers in city departments are no different. Several offices and services will be closed or not available Monday, Sept. 5, due to the holiday.

  • ABQ RIDE bus and Sun Van will not have fixed routes or services.
  • Closures for the holiday include the Eastside and Westside Animal Shelters and Everyday and Luck Paws Adoption Centers; childhood development centers; most city offices; community centers; health and social service centers; the business and ticket office at KiMo Theatre; all libraries; senior, multigenerational and 50-plus sports and fitness centers; and the main Solid Waste Management Office..
  • Locales normally closed on Mondays will remain closed on Labor Day, including the Albuquerque Museum; Balloon Museum; Open Space Visitors Center; and the Shooting Range Park.

However, the Solid Waste Management Department will collect trash, recycling and large items on Labor Day, so customers who are regularly scheduled for service on Mondays should put out their trash and recycling for collection. Any residential large items scheduled through 311 will also be collected.

Convenience centers will be open and in full operation from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday. Locations are the Eagle Rock Convenience Center, 6301 Eagle Rock Road NE; Don Reservoir Convenience Center, 114th Street and Central SW; and Contessa Park Convenience Center, 3512 Los Picaros Road SE. The Cerro Colorado Landfill, 18000 Cerro Colorado SW, will also be open and in full operation from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday.

ACT, the disposal location for household hazardous waste material at 6137 Edith NE, will be closed for the holiday and reopen Wednesday, Sept. 7.
