Albuquerque Police Department is investigating a crash that caused serious injuries on Friday in northwest Albuquerque.

At approximately 11:30p.m. Friday a serious injury, two-vehicle crash occurred at Montano Road NW and Equestrian Drive NW. A silver 2002 Toyota vehicle was traveling eastbound on Montano in the left lane while a red 2019 Chevrolet Camaro was also traveling eastbound on Montano in the left lane at a high rate of speed.

The Camaro struck the Toyota vehicle in the rear, causing both vehicles to lose control.  The passenger of the Toyota was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.  The passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to University of New Mexico Hospital and has been listed in critical condition.

After the collision, the Camaro rolled several times and struck a cinderblock wall.  The driver of the Camaro was suspected of being intoxicated and a DWI investigation was completed.  Both drivers and passengers of both vehicles were transported to UNMH.

This is an ongoing investigation.
